Daniel Thomas "Dan" Carlisle (born December 14, 1955 in Houston ) is a former American sports shooter .

Daniel Carlisle took part in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and 1988 in Seoul . In 1984 he scored 192 points in the trap, as did Luciano Giovannetti and Francisco Boza, the highest number of points in the competition. In the subsequent jump-off on 25 goals, Carlisle only hit 22, while Boza came on 23 hits and Giovannetti on 24. This gave Carlisle the bronze medal. In 1988 he finished ninth in the trap, while he just missed another medal win in the skeet in fourth place.

In 1975 in Munich and 1978 in Seoul, Carlisle was world champion with the trap team, in 1977 in Antibes and 1982 in Caracas he secured the title with the skeet team. In 1982 he was also world champion in the individual skeet competition. A year later he won bronze in the individual trap and his sixth title with the team. In 1987 he finished third with the Trap team. At the Pan American Games in Mexico City in 1975 and in Caracas in 1983 , he won the gold medal in the trap. In 1987 he won the title in Indianapolis with the Skeet team.

Carlisle served for many years in the US Army as a shooting instructor for the sniper units. After his active service, he continued to work as a shooting coach and was national coach of the US team at the 2008 Olympic Games . He was married to the marksman Terry Carlisle .
