Daniel Düngel (born March 17, 1976 in Oberhausen ) is a German politician of the Pirate Party . From 2012 to 2017 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He is a candidate for the 19th German Bundestag in the Münster constituency. In addition, it occupies second place on the North Rhine-Westphalian state list of the Pirate Party, a promising place on the list, provided the Pirate Party does not fail at the 5% hurdle.

School career

From 1980 to 1984, Düngel attended the Bismarck School, a community elementary school in Oberhausen-Alstaden. He then moved to the Novalis-Gymnasium in Oberhausen, where he was in the last year before merging with the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium. In 1995 he passed his Abitur on the latter.

Career

From September 1995 to 1998 he completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman . In the same year he was elected youth and trainee representative. Until the end of 1999, Düngel worked in the insurance field service, then in the Düsseldorf regional office of Debeka . In 2001 he began his professional development within the company as an office manager in the Duisburg branch. From 2002 to 2006, Düngel was part of the training area at the regional office. As part of his further professional development, he headed the company's service center in Düsseldorf as a team leader, before taking over the Mettmann branch as office manager in 2010. Since his election to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament in May 2012, his employment with Debeka has been suspended.

Political career

Düngel has been a member of the Pirate Party since 2009. Düngel was involved in various ways in the pirate party, including in the regional arbitration tribunal. Since 2015 he has been chairman of the Pirate Party in Münster. Since December 2016 he has been press coordinator in the state association of North Rhine-Westphalia.

In the state elections in 2010 and in 2012 he entered for the direct mandate in constituency Oberhausen I to. On May 13, 2012, Düngel achieved the best nationwide result of his party with 10.9% of the first votes in his constituency. He entered the state parliament via the state list (6th place).

At the constituent meeting on May 31, 2012, he was elected 4th Vice President of the State Parliament, making him the first State Parliament Vice President of his party. He resigned from this position on August 12, 2014 after it became known that a believer in Düngel had applied for the execution of an arrest warrant that had been issued.

In the state elections on May 14, 2017, the Pirate Party failed because of the 5% hurdle. Düngel was also only able to achieve 1.39% of the votes in his constituency of Münster I and thus left the state parliament on June 1, 2017.

From 2017 to 2018 he was the second chairman of the Pirate Party in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Private

Daniel Düngel is married (living separately) and has three children.
