Baltic Soul Weekender

Dan Dombrowe is the founder and organizer of the Baltic Soul Weekender , the largest soul festival in Germany, which has been taking place since 2007. In addition, he designs new event formats and passes the weekender concept on under license. This resulted in other events such as L-Beach (in cooperation) and the Rolling Stone Weekender (under license from FKP Skorpio). The Baltic Soul Weekender # 5 (2011) and # 13 (2019) were nominated for the Live Entertainment Award (LEA) in the category Best Festival in Germany.

The Baltic Soul Weekender compilations are compiled by Dan D. using records from his collection. He also worked as a co-producer on the singles Ann Sexton - You're Losing Me , published in the Baltic Soul Benefit Project , and the maxi single That's the Way Love Is by Gloria Scott .

As part of the Baltic Soul Weekender, Dombrowe offers year-round financial, legal and social support to both well-known and lesser-known soul artists who lost the rights to their music in the 1960s and 1970s through gag agreements or fraud. In cooperation with a Berlin lawyer, outstanding income is successfully sued and paid out to the relevant artist. Over the years, close friendships have emerged with many US artists who support the Baltic Soul Weekender benefit project.

Dan Dombrowe also receives support in his endeavors from many German artists (including Mousse T. , Jan Delay , Smudo , Max Mutzke , Fettes Brot ), who waived part of their performance fees in order to help finance the benefit project. The total profit from the sale of the Baltic Soul fan articles also benefited charitable purposes.
