Daniel "Dan" McMillan (born August 12, 1982 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a British handball player and American football player.

McMillan originally played American football in his homeland. After the wide receiver completed his master's degree in sports science in 2005 , he hired the second division club Lübeck Cougars in the same year . After only two games, Dan suffered a serious shoulder injury. It wasn't until 2007 that he returned to the Cougars roster.

In July 2007 the British Handball Federation announced a casting for the British national handball team due to a lack of players , which is automatically qualified to host the 2012 Summer Olympics . Since American football is not an Olympic discipline, but he wanted to participate in the domestic games, Daniel McMillan applied. At the end of the year he was accepted into the national handball team as one of 4,800 applicants. From late 2007 to early 2009 he and his new teammates were trained at a Danish handball academy in Aarhus .

At the beginning of 2009, the British association cooperated with the insolvent Bundesliga club TUSEM Essen , which many players had left during the season. From February 2, 2009 to June 30, 2009 McMillan was in the squad of the Bundesliga club, where the left winger relieved the regular player Ben Schütte . During this period, McMillan played 14 Bundesliga games in which he scored a goal. In the 2011/12 season he was part of the squad of the Danish club Odder Håndbold.

In the summer of 2012, McMillan was part of the British squad that took part in the Olympic Games.
