Daniel Theysohn (born June 18, 1904 in Pirmasens , German Empire , † June 27, 1980 in Ludwigswinkel ) was a German shoe and plastics manufacturer and founder of the foundation .

Life

Daniel Theysohn was born in Pirmasens in 1904 in a middle-class family. In 1938 he married Ruth Bachrodt , whom he had met in 1931 when she was appointed the first Palatinate wine queen . The marriage remained childless.

Before the Second World War , he and his brother Albert Theysohn took over the Teha shoe factory in Pirmasens. It was completely destroyed in a bombing raid during the war; 19 employees and one relative were killed.

After the war, the Theysohn brothers rebuilt the destroyed factory. From the barrel of an anti-aircraft gun they developed an extruder with which they produced parts for the production of plastic shoes. In 1946 they founded Gebr. Theysohn Kunststoff Tehalit GmbH; the company name was a suitcase word from "Teha" and the name of the plastic Igelit used . Branches were set up in Europe and the USA.

In 1956 they sold the Teha shoe factory to the Salamander factory .
