Career

Youth and club career

Villalba began his active career as a football player in the junior division of the CA River Plate. There he went through several youth league classes and in the end was mainly active in the local U-19 team and in the reserve team. He quickly made the connection to the professional team of the club, which has always been represented in the highest Argentine league.

He finally made his debut in the 2009 Torneo Clausura when he came on as a substitute for Mauro Rosales in the 70th minute of a 2-2 home draw against CA Colón . With this commitment, the aim was to awaken the fighting spirit of the then 16-year-old player and give him an incentive to quickly assert himself in the professional team.

It was almost seven months before his next championship appearance before he was substituted on for Marcelo Gallardo in the 67th minute in a 4: 3 home win over Chacarita Juniors on August 30, 2009 . Only a few seconds later, the now 17-year-old scored the 3-3 equalizer after being presented by Ariel Ortega . To date, there have been nine more appearances in the Torneo Apertura 2009 , as well as two more hits and one assist . On December 6, 2009 he was in a 1: 3 away defeat against CA Vélez Sársfield for the first time in his still short professional career the full length of the game.

International

With the U-17 national team of his home country , Villalba took part in the U-17 World Cup in 2009 in Nigeria , where he and his team did not make it past the round of 16 despite reasonable performances . During the competition he was used in four games and made one assist. In total, he was used in five international matches for the U-17 team and scored three goals.
