Daniel W. Connolly

Daniel Ward Connolly (born April 24, 1847 in Cochecton , Sullivan County , New York , †  December 4, 1894 in Scranton , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1849 Daniel Connolly came to Scranton, Pennsylvania, with his parents, where he attended public schools. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1870, he began to work in Scranton in this profession. In 1878 he was elected district judge there. However, he was unable to take up this office due to an objection by the Supreme Court of his state. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1880 he ran unsuccessfully for Congress .

In the congressional elections of 1882 Connolly was then elected in the twelfth constituency of Pennsylvania to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Republican Joseph A. Scranton on March 4, 1883 . Since he was not confirmed in 1884, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1885. Between 1885 and 1889 Daniel Connolly was a postman in Scranton. He also died in this city on December 4th, 1894.
