Daniela Emminger (* 1975 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian writer .

Daniela Emminger grew up in Aurach am Hongar . From 1999 to 2003 she studied journalism and communication science in Vienna. Parallel to her studies, she worked as an advertising copywriter in Hamburg and Berlin and was an editor in Lithuania and Latvia for the monthly newspaper The Baltic Times . Since 2008 she has lived in Vienna as a writer and freelance journalist.

In 2014/15 she was awarded the Adalbert Stifter Scholarship of the State of Upper Austria for her novel project The forgiveness has to wait .

In 2015/16 she received a literary scholarship from the Literar-Mechana Jubilee Fund for the multi-genre novel “Kafka with wings”. Her novella Mixed sentence was on the ten-title longlist of the Austrian Book Prize in 2016 .

In 2019 Daniela Emminger was a participant in the Literature Festival in New York City. In the same year an extensive reading tour followed with her novel 'Kafka with Wings' through Central Asia. In 2020 she became “Writer-in-Residence” at New York University at the invitation of the KADE Foundation .
