Career

Montoya currently plays for the Colombian club Formas Íntimas in the Liga Antioquia.

International

In the summer of 2010, Montoya took part with the U-20 team in the U-20 Women's World Cup 2010 , in which Colombia reached the game for third place, but lost it to South Korea. Montoya scored the first two goals for the 3-0 win in the group game against Costa Rica.

In the same year she made her debut in the Colombian national soccer team on November 5 at the Sudamericano Femenino 2010 against Paraguay . Eight days later, she scored her first international goal for the senior team in an 8-0 win against Uruguay . Colombia qualified for the second round and surprisingly won the last group game against the two-time World Cup participant Argentina, which placed the team in second place behind Brazil and qualified for the first time for the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 Olympic Games. Montoya was then also part of the squad for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany and was used in two games. Colombia were eliminated from the group stage without a win or scoring, but could win a point in the last meaningless game against North Korea . A year later she was part of the squad for the football tournament at the Olympic Games in London . Montoya was used in two games, but this time Colombia lost all three games and were eliminated from the bottom of the group.

In 2014 she participated with Colombia again in the Sudamericano Femenino and was able to contribute to second place again, with Colombia as the only team not to lose a game. Colombia qualified again for the World Cup and the Olympic Games. In November 2014, she then took part in the Central American and Caribbean Games with Colombia , scoring the 1-0 winner in the semifinals against Venezuela . The final against Mexico was then lost 2-0.

Montoya was first nominated for the provisional roster in April 2015, and then for the final roster in May.

In the first group game at the World Cup against Mexico , Colombia were down 1-0 up until the 82nd minute, then Montoya scored the first goal for the Colombians, a long-range shot under the crossbar. A goal she had previously not been recognized because of a striker foul. It was also used in the surprising 2-0 win against World Cup favorites France , which had a bad day. With this first victory for the Colombians in a World Cup game, the team was already in the knockout round before the last game against England and was able to cope with the 1: 2 defeat.
