His first international races were at the 2016 Junior World Championships in Cheile Grădiştei, Romania . In the relay race, he and his teammates took bronze. At the individual races there, an 18th place in the pursuit was his best result. In December 2017, Cappellari made his debut in the IBU Junior Cup in Obertilliach, Austria, and finished 7th in the sprint race there. After good placements at the Junior World Championships 2018 in Otepää , including a 4th place in the relay and fifth in the individual, Cappellari was allowed to start in the World Cup for the first time. At the end of the 2017/18 season he reached 11th place in Oslo together with Thomas Bormolini , Lukas Hofer , and Dominik Windisch . During the 2018/2019 season he was mainly used in the IBU Cup and was able to celebrate his first podium in the IBU Cup in third at the Super Sprint in Obertilliach. Shortly after his first World Cup sprint (74th in Antholz ), Daniele Cappellari was able to win the bronze medal with the Italian quartet as third at the 2018 Junior World Championships. In the season 2019/20 Cappellari initially started in the World Cup with a 103 in the sprint of Östersund . There he was able to achieve his first podium finish with the same team-mates with whom he had already celebrated his World Cup debut.
