Daniel "Danny" Blair (born February 2, 1906 in Parkhead, Glasgow , Scotland , † March 7, 1976 in Staten Island , New York City ) was a Scottish football player . He played as a defender .
Life
Danny Blair, born in Glasgow in 1906, began his professional career as a soccer player in Canada ; there he played for Davonport Albion and Toronto Scottish FC . In 1924 he moved to the Prodidence Clamdiggers in the US American Soccer League . A year later he returned to Scotland, where he played for Clyde FC from then on .
After six years with Clyde, Blair moved to the English first division Aston Villa in 1931 . In the following five years he played 138 games in the league and in the FA Cup for Villa. From 1936 until the outbreak of World War II in 1939, he played for Blackpool FC .
From 1928 to 1932, the defender played eight games for the Scottish national team .
