Daniel Dean "Danny" Guthrie (born April 18, 1987 in Shrewsbury ) is an English soccer player who is currently under contract with the Indonesian first division club Mitra Kukar FC .
Career
Guthrie began his career in 2000 at Manchester United Football Academy . After he was no longer wanted there, he moved to Liverpool in 2002 . The midfielder signed the contract as a 15-year-old. Guthrie was hailed as the new Steven Gerrard by fans of the Reds . Guthrie had his first appearance for the first team of Liverpool FC in the summer of 2006 during the preparatory game against Wrexham FC .
The Englishman made his competitive debut on October 25, 2006 against Reading FC in the English League Cup . Guthrie's English Premier League debut was made a month later against Portsmouth FC .
Internationally, the midfielder played for the first time on December 5, 2006 in the Reds' Champions League game against Galatasaray Istanbul .
In early March 2007 Guthrie was loaned to the second division club Southampton FC , where he played twelve games before he was loaned to Bolton Wanderers for the 2007/08 season .
In 2008 Guthrie moved to Newcastle United for a transfer fee of around £ 2.5million , where he signed a four-year deal. After these four years, Reading FC signed him . In the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to Fulham FC and sold to Blackburn Rovers in the summer . After being without a club for half a year, Guthrie moved to the Indonesian first division club Mitra Kukar FC on January 5, 2018 .
