Salling Group A / S is a Danish company that operates numerous supermarkets . In 2013, the group had 42,500 employees (32,000 of them in Denmark and 10,500 in Germany and Poland) and generated annual sales of around 56 billion Danish kroner (around 7.5 billion euros).
The company operates over 1500 branches (2018). The markets are operated under the following names:
- net
- Føtex
- Bilka A / S (including AZ Hjørring)
- Salling
- Tøj og Sko (dissolved in 2012)
The company was founded by Herman Salling in 1960 as Jysk Supermarked ( Jutian supermarket ). Since Herman Salling entered into a joint venture with the AP Møller-Mærsk Group in 1964, the group was called Dansk Supermarked until 2018 . Since Salling's death in 2006, his shares have been held by the (non-profit) funds Købmand Herman Sallings Fond and Købmand Ferdinand Sallings Mindefond .
In 2017, AP Møller-Mærsk withdrew from the group. Since then, Salling has been the sole owner.
