Bilka A / S
Bilka A / S is a Danish hypermarket chain within the Salling Group , which includes Bilka, Føtex , Netto and Salling . The Bilka chain consists of 18 branches (2018).
The name Bilka possibly goes back to the founder Herman Salling . During a stay in Germany, he is said to have been won over by the concept of the low-price department stores Bilka ( cheap department store ). According to Hermann Salling himself, the name of his department stores is based on the business idea of setting up hypermarkets with parking spaces on the green field outside the city centers in order to address customers with cars (Danish: bil ): Bil Ka . The first department store opened in Aarhus -Tilst in 1970 . Since then, further branches have been set up , especially in Jutland .
