Ishøj is a town with 20,826 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) on the Danish island of Zealand . The city is located in the parish of the same name ( Ishøj Sogn ), which until 1970 belonged to Harde Smørum Herred in what was then the Copenhagen office . With the dissolution of the Harden structure, the parish was included in the municipality of Ishøj , which remained unchanged with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 , but has been part of the Hovedstaden region since then .
Ishøj is located on Køge Bay about 18 km southwest of Copenhagen. The city is the administrative seat of the Ishøj municipality of the same name and a part of Hovedstadsområdet . In 2011, Ishøj had the highest unemployment rate in the country at 10.6 percent (Denmark: 6.1%).
Ishøj is home to the Arken Art Museum, which opened in 1996 .
