The Dard is a small French river in the Jura department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region .

geography

course

Karst spring of the Dard

The Dard rises in the municipality of Baume-les-Messieurs in the Jura at the lower end of the Cirque du Dard (Eng. Basin of the Dard) from the caves of Baume . The underground river runs through the caves before emerging from the rock face as a karst spring in several places and directly forming small waterfalls . One of them is located immediately below the entrance to the caves. Then the Dard overcomes numerous cascades with interesting sintering stages through the formation of tufa .

After its origin, the Dard then runs, parallel to the D70E1 departmental road, north to northeast and after 2.1 kilometers it reaches the southern outskirts of Baume-les-Messieurs . There it flows into the Seille de Baume , which joins the main branch of the Seille at Nevy-sur-Seille .
