Darlene Joyce Zschech , née Darlene Joyce Steinhardt (born September 8, 1965 in Sydney ) is an Australian singer and worship leader in Hillsong Church .

Life

Darlene Zschech was discovered as a child star for the TV series Happy Go Around and sang in commercials such as McDonald’s , Kentucky Fried Chicken and Diet Coke .

The song Shout to the Lord (Calls to the Lord) brought Darlene Zschech the international breakthrough in Christian music. In 2000 she received the Dove Award as composer of the year. In 2007 Phil Dooley took over the leadership of the Worship and Creative Arts departments from Darlene Zschech, and in 2008 Reuben Morgan took over her role as adoration pastor at Hillsong. Darlene Zschech is still the musical director of all community events. She has written four books: Worship (1996), Extravagant Worship (2002), The Kiss of Heaven (2003), and The Great Generational Transition (2009).

For All You've Done by Hillsong, which reached first place in July 2004 as the first Christian CD in the Australian charts, attracted particular attention .

Darlene and her husband Mark Zschech have three children. On December 11, 2013, Darlene was diagnosed with breast cancer.
