The Secret of Two Oceans ( Georgian ორი ოკეანის საიდუმლოება , Russian Тайна двух океанов ) is a Soviet science fiction film from 1955. The novel is based on Grigory Adamov and was published in 1939.

action

The new, state-of-the-art submarine “Pionier” is on its way from Leningrad to Vladivostok . It is intended to investigate two mysterious shipping disasters: the “Victoire” sank in the Pacific and the “Arktika” sunk in the Atlantic.

On a lifeboat of the "Arktika", the crew of the "Pionier" found a survivor of the catastrophe in Pawlik, who from now on rode in the submarine and especially made friends there with the marine engineer Gorelow.

The novel is about protecting the Far Eastern coast of the USSR from an unnamed old enemy (Japan). The topic has been updated for the film, instead of a Japanese threat it is, albeit only marginally, about espionage for Germany on the eve of the Second World War .

German version

The German version was produced by the DEFA studio for synchronization under the direction of Inge Müller and had its cinema premiere in the GDR in July 1957.
