The fairy tale is the title of a comedy written by Curt Goetz .

The piece is titled The Fairy Tale - A Kitschy Incident, one of the three one-act plays from the work The Dead Aunt and other incidents , which include The Murderer - An Annoying Incident and The Dead Aunt - An edifying incident .

The first performance took place on April 17, 1924 at the Modern Theater in Vienna, the German premiere on October 1, 1924 in the Kammerspiele of the German Theater in Berlin.

The lord, tired of life, thinks about killing himself when he meets the gypsy Nadja, who gives him back his zest for life within a few days and dissuades him from his plan. But the lord's suspicious attorney believes Nadja's motives are not altruistic.

Radio plays

A radio play version directed by Goetz himself with him as Lord, his wife Valérie von Martens as Nadja, Alfred Huttig as Advokat Hastings, Theodor Grieg as butler Mr. Charly and Hans Radvanyi as speaker was produced by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation and had its premiere on May 26th 1947. This version is also available on record. Another radio play version with Goetz and von Martens was made two years later under the direction of Gustav Burmester for the NWDR with Heinz Sander as Hastings and Heinz Piper as narrator. In 1956 the SWF produced a version with Johannes Riemann as Lord, Werner Finck as Hastings, Gustl Halenke as Nadja and Ernst Fritz Fürbringer as Mr. Charly. Directed by Fritz Schröder-Jahn . Another version was created in 1959 for the DRS .
