Valérie from Martens
Valérie von Martens , born Valérie Adele Rudolfine Maria Pajér Edle von Mayersperg , married Valérie von Martens-Goetz (born November 4, 1894 in Lienz , Austria-Hungary ; † April 7, 1986 in Riehen , Switzerland ) was an Austro-German actress .
Life
Valérie von Martens was the daughter of the Austrian admiral Rudolf Pajér Edler von Mayersperg. She was an actress in Vienna, had a relationship with the Viennese cabaret artist Karl Farkas and, after marrying Curt Goetz on December 20, 1923, was seen with her husband in his plays on stage and in film. After his death she looked after his work. In 1977 she was one of the founding members of the PEN Club Liechtenstein .
In 1985, on the 25th anniversary of Curt Goetz's death, she donated the Curt-Goetz-Ring for people who continue Goetz's work by “combining the light tone of comedy with intelligence and a humanistic attitude”.
Valérie von Martens died in April 1986 at the age of 91 in Riehen, Switzerland. Her grave is on the state's own cemetery in Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (burial location: 18-G-11/12). She rests there at the side of her husband Curt Goetz, who died in 1960. The grave has been dedicated to Curt Goetz as an honorary grave of the State of Berlin since 1984 .
