action

In 16th century Spain, Don Nicholas Medina lived in a castle boldly situated on a cliff. As a child, he saw his father torturing his mother and walling the survivor in a grave - as punishment for her adultery. He also has to mourn the sudden death of his own wife Elizabeth. The film begins with the visit of Elizabeth's brother, Francis, who is uneasy about his sister's death. He soon finds himself embroiled in a scheming story in which the old torture chamber of the castle plays an important role.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films judged that the film was "one of the most successful" productions by Roger Corman. This is due to "the camera work and color dramaturgy"
