(1992)

Dying is aesthetically colorful is the first album by the Bayreuth group Goethes Erben and forms the prelude to the album trilogy, which continues with The Dream of Memory and ends with Dead Eyes Seeing Life .

The album presents with other works, such as B. "The Prophets" from Das Ich or "Angst" from Lacrimosa represent one with key qualities for the New German Art of Death .

History of origin

After Peter Seipt left the band, Henke had to put the project on hold and only works on new things lyrically and in the studio. During this time when Henke was left without a band, part of the piece Whispering , which was only released on the third studio album, was created.

It was not until February 1991 that Goethe's heirs became a complete group again with Mindy Kumbalek and Conny R.

Subject

The central theme of the album are death and transience, which is also noticeable in all the songs. You can already see this in the first title of the album with the sentence "The metamorphosis to brown earth has begun (...)".

In Unknown Soldier , the final moments are portrayed a simple soldier who was captured by his brother, waiting blindfolded his execution for cowardice. The song ends with the sentences "Create!" And "Give fire!". This is followed by Im Kerker , where the thoughts of a person who is slowly wasting away in the dungeon are presented.

While I no longer want to deal with the fear of dying followed by suicide, the song Koma deals with the agony of a comatose person who cannot die because he is artificially kept alive:

- The machines work fine
You keep life
Make breathing easier
But not dying
- The suffering remains
The pain too
Because nobody knows about this pain
Just me
- But I can't scream
Don't cry either
Just feel

The song No Solution ends with the words “There is no solution, no way out, no sense” . With exactly these words, the song No Solution - Retrospect closes on the follow-up album to emphasize that the albums are connected and form the trilogy.

New edition

In 1998 the entire album trilogy was reissued, with a completely redesigned booklet and the cover changed. Instead of a dark leaf on a black background, yellowish leaves can be seen lying on the ground. The new edition of Zeitbombe was sold .

Others

  • Bartholomäus Bastian Verdel, who acted as a guest musician on the album, also wrote the melody for the song Das Schwarze Wesen , published on the follow-up album .
