The stolen airship is a film by director Karel Zeman , shot in 1966 in the ČSSR . It is mainly based on the novel Zwei Jahre Ferien (original title: Deux ans de vacances ) by Jules Verne , but also uses other motifs and characters by the French writer. The film consists of both real film sequences and collage animations. It is kept entirely in sepia and particularly visualizes the atmosphere of the late 19th century .

Costumes

During an aviation exhibition in Prague , five boys kidnap an airship . Since the balloon is supposedly filled with explosion-proof gas, the children are being persecuted by representatives of world powers who have a great interest in the gas. The airship is driven to a desert island.

In addition to Captain Nemo , the boys meet other characters who are known from various Jules Verne novels during their journey.
