The Last Meal is a historical film by Florian Frerichs from 2017 . The film deals with the fate of the Jewish family Glickstein on 30 January 1933, the date of the seizure of power by Adolf Hitler .

The world premiere of The Last Mahl celebrated its world premiere on April 30, 2018 as part of the 13th Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival 2018 under the patronage of the German Consulate General in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust .

At the 15th Festival Internacional de Cinema Social de Catalunya , the film was awarded the “Special Jury Prize”. This was followed by international screenings at the 28th Washington Jewish Film Festival , the 24th Jewish Film Festival Berlin & Brandenburg in Berlin, the 28th JIFF in Sydney & Melbourne, and the 16th Warsaw Jewish Film Festival . The film most recently won the audience award at the 7th Budapest Jewish and Israeli Film Festival 2018 in December 2018.

The nationwide event cinema release is on January 30, 2019 - the 86th anniversary of Adolf Hitler's seizure of power .

On the day Hitler came to power, the Jewish Glickstein family met in Berlin for dinner. Surprising rifts open up: While nineteen-year-old Leah tells her parents that she is going to Palestine, her eighteen-year-old brother Michael and his friends want to go to the Nazis' torchlight procession to pay homage to the new era.
