criticism

Vienna's Neue Freie Presse reported in its April 1, 1924 edition: "You all play excellently. Unfortunately, however, this film is proof that it is not all that matters. We want to make it short. How it came about that this one We don't know that a film that was started with the best of intentions is now faced with such an unsatisfactory performance. In any case, the fact is: Despite the large sum of brilliant individual achievements, this film is on the whole "messed up". Its main fault: It lacks the disparate ones The subplot, in which Gläßner plays the main role, simply stops without betraying the slightest tendency to unite with the rest of the plot, which is also becoming increasingly poor. (...) And the main plot itself can do us not really warm. "

The following can be read in Paimann's film lists : "In the foreground are the very interesting and in every respect generously designed temple buildings, the dance scenes as well as the excellent, consistently modern photographed execution. The subject is very exciting, the presentation good."
