Dated Children's Pain Days

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dattelner Kinderschmerztage (DKST) are a multi-professional congress for children's pain therapy and pediatric palliative care . This congress is the largest event on pediatric pain therapy and palliative care both in German-speaking countries and internationally. It offers professionals and volunteers a platform to better understand pain - or other stressful symptoms in children in the end-of-life phase - to evaluate them correctly and to treat them efficiently and with low risk.

concept

The congress, which has taken place every two years in the Ruhrfestspielhaus Recklinghausen since 2001, under the direction of Boris Zernikow, is aimed at professionals who are involved in the care and support of children with pain or life-shortening diseases, in particular paediatricians, health and child nurses, psychologists, educators and other therapists and volunteers in child palliative care. Pediatricians and health and child nurses make up the largest proportion of the approximately 800 participants.

The first day of the congress is dedicated to the so-called "Education Day" to the basic knowledge of the two subject areas. Around 80 lectures and workshops will take place in parallel on the following two main days of the Congress. An excursus to the Children's Palliative Center Datteln and the German Children's Pain Center at the Vestische Children's and Youth Clinic Datteln is also offered. The Dattelner Children's Pain Days are a practice-oriented and cross-professional training congress that is also based on current research topics and imparts knowledge. A supporting program offers participants and speakers the opportunity to get to know each other, to exchange ideas and to network.

Since 2013, the Datteln Children's Pain Days have been organized as a three-country congress in cooperation with Austria ( Medical University Graz , Wiener Kinderhospiz GmbH, St. Anna Kinderspital Wien ) and Switzerland ( University Hospital Basel and University Children's Hospital Basel , University Children's Hospital Zurich ). In 2017, the cooperation with the Netherlands ( Radboud Universitair Medisch Centrum ) will be expanded - the Dattelner Children's Pain Days will then be the first “Four-Country Congress for Children's Pain Therapy and Pediatric Palliative Care”.

The professional and scientific quality is recognized by certification by the Westphalia-Lippe Medical Association . The speakers are involved in this congress on a voluntary basis; no fees are paid. This special commitment also makes the Datteln Children's Pain Days unique. The organization is carried out on a voluntary basis through the organizer and employees of the German Children's Pain Center and Children's Palliative Center in Datteln . Without the participation of a large specialist society or professional congress organization, the congress “lives” through the commitment of Boris Zernikow and his team. The German Children's Palliative Foundation has financially supported the Datteln Children's Pain Days since 2014.

organizer

The organizer of the Dattelner Kinderschmerztage is the non-profit association “own life - help for children with pain and life-shortening diseases e. V. ". It was founded in 2001 by several paediatricians and pediatric nurses in Datteln to stand up for the interests of children with pain or life-limiting diseases. The association works closely with the Datteln Children's Palliative Center and the German Children's Pain Center and particularly promotes the advanced training of doctors and children's nurses on the subjects of children's pain therapy and palliative care.
