It employs around 2,300 people, offers around 230 beds and looks after around 8,200 inpatients and around 40,000 outpatients annually. Delegates from the Government Council of the Canton of Zurich and the Zurich City Council are also represented on the Board of Trustees .

organization

The Children's Hospital Zurich is divided into a medical clinic, a surgical clinic and a department for intensive care and neonatology , emergency medicine, anesthesia , image diagnostics / radiology and magnetic resonance as well as clinical chemistry and biochemistry. Planned new building

The children's hospital - now based in Zurich-Hottingen - has been suffering from very limited space for years. So that the hospital can continue to fulfill its service mandate in the future and ensure security of supply for children and young people, the foundation has been planning to build a new building in Zurich-Lengg for some time. In January 2009, at the request of the Children's Hospital , the government council of the Canton of Zurich set the course for the construction of a new building on two areas in the Zurich-Lengg area between the Balgrist University Clinic and the Zurich Psychiatric University Clinic . The canton cedes land to the foundation for its needs and in return receives the land from the children's hospital in Hottingen, which is now owned by the foundation.

The Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron have been awarded the contract for the construction. The start of construction is scheduled for 2018. The move into the new building is planned for 2022.
