Daucus involucratus is a species of the carrot genus( Daucus ).

features

Daucus involucratus is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 10 to 20 centimeters. The stem is shorter than the umbellate stem . The leaves are pinnate one to three times with narrow sections. There are 3 to 4 umbel rays . The bracts rise above the crown and are pinnate. The petals are white, up to 1 millimeter long and about the same. The fruit is 2 to 4 millimeters long. Their side rib spines stand out and are three times as long as the width of the partial fruit.

The flowering time is in April.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

Occurrence

Daucus involucratus occurs in the northeastern Mediterranean . They can be found in Greece, Crete, Cyprus, in the Aegean Sea and in European and Asian Turkey. In Crete it grows in Phrygana , on rocks, on rubble heaps and on fallow land at altitudes from 0 to 1600 meters.
