Dave Maric

Dave Maric (born June 12, 1970 in Bedford ) is a British composer and musician.

Marc studied at City University London until 1991 and then performed as a classical pianist, jazz and improvisation musician with Marc Ribot , Gunther Schuller , John Adams , the BBC Symphony Orchestra , the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the London Sinfonietta , the Steve Martland Band and others various jazz and rock bands.

In 2000, the first commissioned work was Trilogy , a solo piece for the percussionist Colin Currie . This was followed by further commissions from the violinist Viktoria Mullova and the pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque With Katia Labèque, the drummer Marque Gilmore and the percussionist Julio Barreto he worked together in a project, the Katia Labèque Band , with which he commissioned for several years and the first Recorded his compositions on the album Unspoken (2004).

On behalf of the Lucerne Festival , Radio France , the Borletti-Buitoni Trust and BBC Radio 3 , he composed pieces for the Orchester National de Montpellier , the trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger and the guitarist Fred Frith . He also continued to work with Colin Currie. A selection of the pieces for him, some of which are now part of the standard repertoire of percussion students and soloists, appeared on the album Borrowed Time in 2007 .

Two great works by Maric premiered in 2012: a trumpet concerto for Ole Edvard Antonsen and a percussion concerto for Colin Currie. As a film composer he worked for Channel 4 and directors such as Sam Steer , Gabriella Cserhati and Fabien Lartigue , he also composed for video and animation artists , shadow plays and ballet.
