Marque Gilmore

Marque Gilmore (* in Cambridge / Massachusetts ) is an American percussionist and drummer.

The brother of guitarist David Gilmore founded the band Live Drum & Bass in 1993 , which is considered the first live drum 'n' bass band . The band combined live interactive MIDI electronics with the performance of DJs and became equally popular in New York and London. In New York he was one of the founding members of the NYC Black Rock Coalition . In 1994 he founded the music and multimedia project Drum-FM Interactive Tribalistic Session , which he has been leading ever since. He has worked with musicians such as Joe Zawinul , Roy Ayers , Meshell Ndegeocello , Keziah Jones , Talvin Singh , Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Cheick Tidiane Seck and toured with composer and multi-instrumentalist Nitin Sawhney from 1998 to 2000 .

In 1999 he received the New Music Commission Grant from the UK Arts Council and created the performance Millennium Migration with Seck , which premiered at London's Hackney Empire . In 2000 he toured the UK as a companion for Sting . In 2001 he toured Europe, India and China. From 2001 he formed the Katia Labèque Band with the pianist Katia Labèque , the composer Dave Maric and the percussionist Julio Barreto .
