Davey Havok (born November 20, 1975 in Rochester , New York , USA , actually David Paden Marchand, born David Passaro ) is an American singer and lyricist, best known for the band AFI .

biography

Davey Havok is Italian-American and the son of Penny and Paul Marchand. Paul Marchand, however, is only his stepfather, whom Havok's mother married after the death of Havok's biological father, Davey was five at the time. Davey Havok adopted the new family name and also sees his stepfather entirely as his "real" father.

At the age of six, his family moved to Ukiah , California . Up to eighth grade he went to a Catholic school. There he sang in the choir and took on some roles in school plays. During his high school years, he formed a musical group with friends Mark Blackwelder and Vic Chalker in 1991. They also persuaded a schoolmate, Adam Carson, to take over the drums. After high school , the band broke up and Havok attended college to study English and psychology.

While in college there was a "reunion" concert by AFI , as the band was now called. After the band's success, Davey Havok dropped out of college. He and Jade Puget , the guitarist of the band AFI , operated the electro side project Blaqk Audio . Havok also took on the role of singer in the horror punk band Son of Sam . However, Havok was always able to celebrate his greatest successes, also internationally, with AFI .

Davey Havok has been the singer of the band Dreamcar, a pop side project with members of the band No Doubt, since 2017 .

Others

Davey Havok ran his own fashion lines "Glitterboy" and "Paden", which were influenced by the style of the 70s. His latest clothing line is called “Zu Boutique”. Together with Jeffree Star he modeled for the entire clothing line "Tokyo Hardcore" by Tarina Tarantina.

Havok is a straight-edge fanatic. He rejects drug use in any form and is also vegan . Havok has countless tattoos and, according to him, “there is not much space left”. These include a broken heart behind his right ear, a burning heart on his chest, black wings on his back, three red crosses on his right wrist (these stand for Straight Edge), horror comic motifs on his arms and lots of Halloween pumpkins.

Some fans formed a fan club, which they refer to as the "church" dedicated to Davey Havok. This Church of Havok serves solely to honor Davey Havok and his works.
