Davey Suicide is an alternative metal band from Los Angeles , California , formed in 2011 .

history

Davey Suicide was founded in 2011 in the California metropolis of Los Angeles by singer Davey Suicide. In the same year the keyboardist Needlz, the bassist Frankie Sil, the guitarist Eric Griffin and the drummer Ben Graves joined other musicians.

In November 2012, Put Our Trust in Suicide, an EP with four titles, was released, which was recorded and published completely independently. Almost four months later, in March 2013, the debut album, which was named after the group, was released. The debut album was also released as a self-release. That same year, Sil, Griffin and Graves left the band and were replaced by drummer Drayven Davidson, guitarist Ashes and bassist Brent Ashley. However, Ashes left the group at the end of 2013. In the meantime, the group signed a contract with StandBy Records , which released the band's second album on September 30, 2014 with World Wide Suicide .

The group has toured the United States several times , including supporting Vampires Everywhere! , Orgy , The Bunny the Bear , The Defiled , William Control, and the Fearless Vampire Killers .

Litigation with StandBy Records

On August 10, 2016, Davey Suicide posted a video on the group's presence on Facebook in which he gave details about the band's current situation. Davey Suicide accuses the owner of the record company, Neill Sheenan, of breach of contract in this video message. Sheenan did not pay the contract stipulated for the production costs of the second album Worldwide Suicide , nor took over the costs of marketing the band contrary to the contract, so that the musicians had debts of almost 70,000 dollars at times. He also accuses Sheenan of signing new record deals with other groups so that he can give this preference to other groups that are longer under contract with the label.

In this video, Suicide also goes into the backstory of the dispute. After threatening the label with a lawsuit, the label sued the band for breach of contract in order to forestall the band's lawsuit. The trial was originally scheduled for August 2, 2016 but was postponed to February 2017.

Signature at Trisol

On January 24, 2017, the group announced that they had signed with Trisol Music Group and announced their third album for the end of March. In March and April the band tours together with Combichrist and September Mourning .

In January and February 2018, the band toured Europe supporting Saliva and Crazy Town and gave concerts in England, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The tour then continued with Crazy Town in the USA. For April 2018, tour dates for Australia and New Zealand have been announced as special guests of Wednesday 13.

style

Davey Suicide's music can primarily be described as alternative metal , which is comparable to Ministry , Marilyn Manson , Static-X , Orgy and Dope . Also, Nine Inch Nails , Alice Cooper and even Pink Floyd cited as musical influences.
