Vampires Everywhere! was a metalcore band from Los Angeles, founded in 2009 .

history

The beginnings and interim separation

Vampires Everywhere! was founded in 2009 by singer Michael "Vampire" Orlando in Los Angeles . The original line-up included guitarists Zak Dunn and Aaron Martin, keyboardist Jason Shaffer, bassist Alexander Hernandez and drummer David Hernandez.

On February 9, 2010, the debut EP Lost in the Shadows was released , on which the piece Immortal Love can be found. The song was also featured on the debut album Kiss the Sun Goodbye , which was released on May 17, 2011 via Hollywood Waste Records and Century Media . A music video was shot for the song, directed by Scott Hansen, who worked with A Skylit Drive , Carnifex , A Day to Remember and Alesana . The music video received airplay on MTV2 , Heavy Rotation and Fuse on Demand .

Tours with groups like the Murderdolls , Our Last Night , Escape the Fate , Polkadot Cadaver , Wednesday 13 and other bands followed. In July and August 2010, the band also played an extensive North American tour supporting Get Scared and Black Veil Brides .

On June 19, 2012, Hellbound and Heartless, the band's second studio album, was released. The group struggled with several line-up changes, so that at the time the album was released, the band consisted of singer Michael Vampire, as well as guitarists DJ Black and Aaron Martin. The group spent the summer on the Warped Tour . In March 2013, the group toured as the opening act for Orgy and Davey Suicide .

2013–2015: Intermittent Dissolution and The Killing Lights

On November 14, 2013, singer Michael Vampire announced that Vampires Everywhere would be disbanded. At the same time he announced that he wanted to work with new musicians under the name The Killing Lights from now on . In addition, a first demo was published with Don't Turn Around .

Between February 8th and 18th, 2014, the band completed their first tour of the UK . The group was seen in the opening act for The Defiled and the Butcher Babies . On October 21, 2014, Until I Bleed, the first single for the debut EP was officially released on Kerrang! presented. The EP named after the band was released on December 2, 2014. On December 11, 2014, a music video for the song Until I Bleed was released.

2015–2016: Vampires Everywhere Revived ! and repeated separation

In February 2015, the revival of the band Vampires Everywhere followed . Singer Michael Vampire and guitarist DJ Black - who was already active in the band with Hellbound and Heartless - were joined by two other musicians: drummer Joshua Ingram and bassist Bryan Allen. The group spent the year mainly working on the new album, with the assistance of David Bendeth and Matt Good . On December 22, 2015, the group released the first single called Black Betty . The album is called Ritual , which was released in early 2016. The album was announced for March 18, 2016.

Between November 30 and December 18, 2015, the band toured several cities in the United States with Consider Me Dead . At the end of February 2016, the group started on a North American tour with Chasing Safety to promote their album. The tour ends on March 29, 2016 in Roswell , New Mexico . Only a few weeks later, the group could be seen supporting Filter and Orgy on their North American concert tour , which ended on May 21, 2016 in Los Angeles , California . A concert tour through Europe in autumn, during which the group was supposed to play in the opening act of Yashin , was canceled because Yashin announced their separation on August 4, 2016.

In 2016 the group separated again. Singer Michael Vampire founded the rock band Dead Girls Academy shortly afterwards .

style

The music of Vampires Everywhere! could at the beginning be called metalcore , post-hardcore and due to electronic insertions also trancecore . The group's sound on the debut album Kiss the Sun Goodbye has been described as the missing link between Avenged Sevenfold and AFI . Romantic fairy tales were told about the undead. In an interview, the singer said that he was not inspired by films like True Blood or Twilight , but by the "classics" for the lyrical themes . He made them out in Nosferatu , Dracula , The Lost Boys and Fright Night .

On the second long player Hellbound and Heartless , the group radically changed their musical direction. Reasons were, among other things, the constant change of musicians as well as the lack of success of the debut album. The group oriented itself on the successor to Kiss the Sun Goodbye more towards Shock Rock , with Marilyn Manson acting as a musical role model. However, Orgy were also counted among the musical influences. The lyrics also changed. For example, Hellbound and Heartless sang about drug use , death and hell . According to Gavin Lloyd from Metal Hammer , the group failed to gain attention, as groups such as Motionless in White and Davey Suicide at that time shaped a similar style of music or could gain greater recognition.

The musicians gave groups such as Behemoth , Cannibal Corpse and Dimmu Borgir as further musical influences. Michael Vampire's vocals remind (on The Killing Lights EP) at times of Oliver Sykes . The sound was also described as a cheaper version of Bring Me the Horizon (the song It Never Ends was mentioned as an example ), which was equipped with choirs comparable to Black Veil Brides . The songs Bearly Breathing or Lies Spread Like Fire are also reminiscent of Of Mice & Men or Asking Alexandria .

Among the other musical influences, the band names artists such as Slipknot , Atreyu , The Black Dahlia Murder , Children of Bodom , August Burns Red , As I Lay Dying , Death and Obituary .

Surname

The band name Vampires Everywhere! is based on a fictional comic of the same name from the movie The Lost Boys . The name The Killing Lights came about due to a serious car accident that singer Michael Vampire survived. He wrote that the name suited his temporary situation.
