Davey von Bohlen (born August 11, 1975 in Milwaukee ) is an American emo and indie rock musician and songwriter. He is currently the front man at Maritime . He is known for his stage presence and his crucial contributions to the development of the emo scene.

Career

As a teenager, Davey von Bohlen was a member of the legendary emocore band Cap'n Jazz , in which the brothers Mike Kinsella and Tim Kinsella , Victor Villarreal and Sam Zurick played, all of whom would later set the tone in the Chicago scene. After their dissolution in 1995 he founded the band The Promise Ring , with whom he recorded several successful long players. In 1999 he started another project under the name Vermont , in which the sound of the current formation Maritime also has its origin. In 2001 von Bohlen also sang on the studio recordings of Jimmy Eat World's album Bleed American , on the song A Praise Chorus.

In April 2002, Davey von Bohlen discovered a brain tumor that had led to recurring headaches for two years. The tumor could be surgically removed and turned out to be benign, so that van Bohlen could later go back to the studio and even go on tour.
