David Ball (musician, 1950)
David "Dave" J. Ball (born March 30, 1950 in Handsworth , Birmingham , England , † April 1, 2015 ) was a British guitarist .
Most recently he lived in New Zealand , but also worked in other countries around the world.
In 1971 he played for Procol Harum and replaced Robin Trower , who had left the formation to form his own group , in the band . Ball can be heard on the band's only official live album, Procol Harum Live in Concert with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra , and left the group in 1973 while recording the album Grand Hotel to perform with Long John Baldry . David Ball died of colon cancer on April 1, 2015 at the age of 65.
