David Bennett (painter)

David Bennett (* 1941 in Chicago ) is an American opera singer , illustrator and painter .

Life

David Bennett is American of Jewish-Russian descent and was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1941. He studied literature at Harvard University and trained as an opera singer, performing between 1963 and 1973, mainly in the USA.

In the 1970s he was a lecturer at the Free University of Berlin for a short time before he settled in Munich as a freelance painter in 1973 . Today he works in Munich and on La Palma .

Since then he has been working intensively on the Old Testament and its books.

Bennett works with different graphic techniques in letterpress and gravure printing such as linocuts, etchings or elaborate screen printing, among other things on the illustration of various books of the Hebrew Bible .
