David Bižić ([ david biʒitɕ ]; Serbian - Cyrillic Давид Бижић ; Hebrew 'דוד ביז'יץ; * November 25, 1975 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian - Israeli opera and concert singer ( baritone ).

Life

After moving to Israel in 2000, he became a member of the International Vocal Arts Institute and the New Israeli Opera Young Artist Studio. In 2003 he joined the Center de Formation Lyrique at the Paris Opera .

His first appearances included roles in Manon , Pelléas et Mélisande , Saint François d'Assise , Il trovatore , Tristan and Isolde and From a House of the Dead . At the Paris Opera (Opéra Bastille) he sang among others Massetto and Leporello in Don Giovanni , Schaunard in La Bohème , Mathieu in Andrea Chénier .

The bass-baritone is particularly valued for his interpretations of Mozart , such as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro (Opéra Angers-Nantes, Opéra national du Rhin Strasbourg, Opéra de Monte-Carlo , Grand Théâtre de Genève and Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux ), Leporello in Don Giovanni ( Vienna State Opera , Paris Opera, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Los Angeles, Deutsche Oper Berlin , Bolschoi Theater Moscow, Toulouse, Rennes, Opéra National de Montpellier , Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Valencia), Publio in La clemenza di Tito (Avignon) and Masetto in Don Giovanni (Paris Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence ).

He sang Escamillo in Carmen ( National Theater Belgrade ), the High Priest in Samson et Dalila (Stockholm) and Schaunard in La Bohème ( Royal Opera House Covent Garden London and Paris Opera), Albert in Werther ( Metropolitan Opera ), Guglielmo in Così fan tutte ( Paris Opera) and Marcello in La Bohème (Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux).

In 2007, he won second prize at the “ Operalia ” international singing competition in Paris.
