David Brophy (* 9. June 1990 in Caldercruix , Scotland ) is a British professional boxer in the super middleweight and current Commonwealth champion .

Career

Brophy made a successful debut in 2011. He completed four fights that year, all of which he won on points. In his 5th fight he boxed against Lee Noble only in a draw.

2016 boxed Brophy against his compatriot and later WBA world champion George Groves (including current WBA champion) for the vacant European title of WBA in a scheduled twelve round fight and went already in round 4 classic ko This heavy defeat gave Brophy but not back ; he reported back in the same year with a T.-K-.o victory in round 2 over Kelvin Young. On January 20 of the following year he won against the Lithuanian Kiril Psonko over six rounds unanimously on points and only two months later against the previously undefeated Australian Zac Dunn in a twelve-round fight in round 7 by TKo This victory brought him the Commonwealth Belt. He has to defend this title at the end of September 2017 against the British champion ( BBBofC ) Rocky Fielding . Fielding's BBBofC title is also at stake.
