Rocky Fielding (* 5. August 1987 in Liverpool , Merseyside , England as Michael Fielding ) is a British professional boxer and former WBA world champion at super middleweight . He is under contract with Matchroom Sport and is coached by Oliver Harrison and Jamie Moore .

Boxing career

As an amateur, Fielding was English junior middleweight champion in 2005 and English light heavyweight runner-up in 2008. He made his professional debut on September 25, 2010. In March 2011, he won the Prizefighter Tornament in the super middleweight division by three early wins and in October 2012 became the English super middleweight championship. In September 2013 he won the Commonwealth Super Middleweight Championship and was able to defend the title twice.

On July 12, 2014 he defeated Noé Alcoba (match record: 30-3) in the fight for the WBA Intercontinental title in the super middleweight division and on June 26, 2015 Brian Vera in the fight for the WBC International title . In November 2015, Fielding surprisingly lost to Callum Smith (17-0) by TKO in the first round .

In his next fight he was able to defeat the French Christopher Rebrassé (24-4) and become WBC International Champion again. In April 2017 he won the fight for the British super middleweight championship against John Ryder (24-3). With a win against David Brophy (19-1) he also became Commonwealth Champion in September 2017.

On July 14, 2018, he boxed in the Baden-Arena in Offenburg against the German Tyron Zeuge (22-0) for the regular WBA world title in the super middleweight division. Fielding clearly dominated the fight and had witnesses on the ground in the fifth round, with Witness trainer Jürgen Brähmer throwing in the towel. Fielding won with TKO.

On December 15, 2018, he lost the title in Madison Square Garden by losing TKO in the third round to Saúl Álvarez (50-1).
