David Ludovic George Hopetoun "John" Carnegie, 11th Earl of Northesk (born September 24, 1901 in London , † November 7, 1963 in Binfield ) was an elected representative of the Scottish peers in the British House of Lords. He was best known as an athlete.

John Carnegie was the son of David Carnegie, 10th Earl of Northesk, and Elizabeth Boyle Hallowes. He followed his father on December 5, 1921 as Earl of Northesk . From 1921 to 1923 he served in the Coldstream Guards . During the Second World War he served in the rank of major in an espionage unit. Later he was a farmer. From 1953 he was a Scottish Representative Peer member of the House of Lords . He died childless. He was succeeded as Earl of Northesk by his cousin John Carnegie, 12th Earl of Northesk .

As an athlete, Carnegie was one of the most successful Cresta drivers of his time. As in 1928 in St. Moritz Olympic competitions in the first Skeleton were held, he was considered a big favorite. A week before the Games, he set a new Cresta record. However, he made a mistake during the first Olympic run and ended up only finishing third, with the brothers Jennison and John Heaton placing in front of him.
