David Chillingworth

David Chillingworth (* 1951 in Dublin ) is an Anglican bishop and was a primate of the Scottish Episcopal Church from 2009 to 2016 .

Life

Chillingworth grew up in Northern Ireland . He attended Trinity College in Dublin and Oriel College at the University of Oxford . At Ripon College Cuddesdon the Church of England , he was preparing for the priesthood before. In 1976 he was in Belfast a priest in the Church of Ireland ordained . During his pastoral work in Northern Ireland, Chillingworth served as Rector of Seagoe Parish Church in Portadown and Archdeacon of Dromore.

On March 5, 2005, he was ordained Bishop of the Diocese of Saint Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane at St Ninian's Cathedral in Perth, Scotland . In June 2009, Chillingworth was elected Primate of the Church by the Episcopal Quorum of the Scottish Episcopal Church.

Chillingworth is married with three children.
