David F. Sandberg (* 1981 in Jönköping ) is a Swedish filmmaker , known as the director of Lights Out , Annabelle 2 and Shazam! .

Life

Sandberg began his career as a filmmaker with self-produced no-budget short films, which he published on YouTube , among others . His short film Lights Out was viewed several million times, so that the director and producer James Wan became aware of Sandberg and produced an extended version for the cinema with Sandberg as director. His second feature film, Annabelle 2 , also produced by Wan, was released in 2017. He also directed the comic book adaptation Shazam! , which was published in April 2019. Moreover, it is Lights Out 2 has again announced with Sandberg as director.

Sandberg currently resides in Los Angeles , California with his wife Lotta Losten .
