David Franzoni
David Harold Franzoni (born March 4, 1947 in Vermont ) is an American screenwriter and film producer .
Life
David Harold Franzoni grew up in Vermont and after he Geology and Paleontology at the University of Vermont studied, he left after just one year, the Graduate School , flew to Berlin , where he bought a motorcycle and then through Europe and the Middle East traveled.
When he lived in Baghdad, he bought the novel Those About to Die by Daniel P. Mannix , which inspired him to make the film Gladiator back in the 1970s . While living in Rome, he researched a possible story and introduced it to Steven Spielberg while filming Amistad . The film was then made into a film by Universal Studios and DreamWorks SKG under the direction of Ridley Scott with a budget of just under 100 million US dollars . Since he also worked as a producer, he was not only nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, but was also awarded for Best Picture .
