David Fullerton

David Fullerton (born October 4, 1772 in Greencastle , Franklin County , Province of Pennsylvania , †  February 1, 1843 ibid) was an American politician . In 1819 and 1820 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Fullerton was the uncle of Congressman David Fullerton Robison (1816-1859). He attended the public schools in his home country. He was a major in the American armed forces during the British-American War of 1812 . In his home country he worked in commerce and banking. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic-Republican Party founded by the later US President Thomas Jefferson in the late 1790s .

In the congressional election of 1818 Fullerton was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fifth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded William Maclay on March 4, 1819 . He held this mandate until his resignation on May 15, 1820. After serving in the US House of Representatives, Fullerton returned to trading and banking. Between 1827 and 1839 he was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate . He died on February 1, 1843 in Greencastle, where he was buried.
