David Gilson

David Gilson (* 1953 in England ) is an English conductor and tuba player .

Life

David Gilson studied in London at the Royal Academy of Music and the London College of Music in the courses Tuba as an instrument and orchestral conducting. After taking master classes with John Fletcher , director of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble , among others , Gilson joined the British armed forces as a military musician . After 14 years of service as a military musician, he joined the Dortmund Opera Orchestra.

In the 1990s, Gilson led the Brass Band Oberschwaben-Allgäu and at times the German Wind Philharmonic .

Gilson currently conducts the Sigmaringen town band , where he is employed as town music director. Until 2015 he also directed the Friedrichshafen City Orchestra . He also teaches brass at the City Music School in Sigmaringen.

He is present every year as a lecturer for deep brass and as a conductor at the “International Summer Course for Symphonic Wind Orchestra”.
