David Giménez Carreras (* 1964 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish conductor from Catalonia . He is the nephew of the tenor Josep Carreras and has directed many of his concerts.
biography
Giménez Carreras began his musical education at the Conservatori Superior de Música des Liceu in Barcelona. He then moved to the University of Music in Vienna and studied for another three years at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Sir Colin Davis .
His debut as a conductor took place in Hamburg in 1994 with a concert by Josep Carreras and the Hamburg Philharmonic .
In his further career he has directed the Vienna Philharmonic , the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich , the London Symphony Orchestra , the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchester de Paris .
From September 2006 to 2009 David Giménez Carreras was music director of the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès from Sabadell .
