David Hoogsteen (born November 10, 1974 in Thunder Bay , Ontario ) is a former Dutch - Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Richmond Renegades and Trenton Titans in the East Coast Hockey League from 1992 to 2004 . His older brother Kevin was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
David Hoogsteen began his career as an ice hockey player in the junior team Thunder Bay Flyers, for which he was active from 1992 to 1995 in the United States Hockey League , where he was named striker of the year of the league in 1995. He then visited for four years for the team of the University of North Dakota , for whose ice hockey team the winger played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In 1997 he was named MVP of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association . At the beginning of the 1999/2000 season, the Canadian with a Dutch passport moved to EHC Straubing from the Oberliga Süd . After only eight games, he left Bayern again to end the season with the Richmond Renegades and Trenton Titans in the East Coast Hockey League .
From 2000 to 2002 Hoogsteen was each a season with Fayetteville Force from the Central Hockey League and the Rockford IceHogs from the United Hockey League under contract. He then signed with the Amstel Tijgers Amsterdam from the Dutch Eredivisie . With these he won the national championship and the Dutch cup competition in 2003 and 2004, respectively . The left shooter contributed significantly to the successes as top scorer in the Eredivisie main round in the 2002/03 season and as top scorer and top scorer in the playoffs in the 2003/04 season. In 2004 he was also top scorer in the Dutch cup competition. Following his time with the Amstel Tijgers, he ended his career at the age of 30.
