David Nicholls
David Nicholls (born November 30, 1966 in Eastleigh , Hampshire ) is an English writer .
Life
Nicholls is a retired stage actor with a degree in acting. The middle of three siblings, he attended college in Eastleigh, Hampshire , from 1983 to 1985 , then the University of Bristol until 1988 , before studying acting at the Central School of Speech and Drama .
On stage he appeared under the pseudonym David Holdaway , including at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds and at the Royal National Theater .
In terms of writing, he has so far emerged as the author of novels and screenplays , including the screenplay for the film The Time That Remains Us . He received an Emmy nomination for Patrick Melrose .
