David D. Osborn
David Osborn , also David D. Osborn , (born September 30, 1923 in New York ) is an American writer and screenwriter .
Life
While studying at Columbia University , David Osborn worked as a writer on off-Broadway plays . He also worked as a PR advisor to Jimmy Durante . During the McCarthy era he was harassed and emigrated to France. He bought a quarry in the small town of Le Bar-sur-Loup north of Cannes , which he managed. There he began working on scripts for films in his spare time.
His first major success was the premiere of Whispering Shadows in 1958 . This was followed by other script work for British film and television productions, including the 1961 film adaptation of Agatha Christie's 4:50 p.m. from Paddington and in 1966 the Canadian-British film Wie ein Schrei im Wind .
In the 1970s, Osborn began a second career as a novelist. With Open Season (German hunting season ) he landed an international success in 1974. This book was also filmed after Osborn's script adaptation with Peter Fonda under the title Los Cazadores .
Most recently Osborn lived in Connecticut .
