David Payne (athlete)

David Payne (born July 24, 1982 in Cincinnati ) is an American hurdler who specializes in the 110-meter course .

In 2007 he finished fourth in the US Championships and won silver at the 2007 Pan American Games . Nominated as a substitute for the World Championships in Osaka , he stepped in for the injured Dominique Arnold at short notice and surprisingly won bronze with his personal best of 13.02 seconds.

With a third place in the US Trials, he qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he was only beaten in the final by world record holder Dayron Robles (CUB) and won silver with a time of 13.17 s, where he had a hundredth of a second ahead of his compatriot David Oliver on the bronze rank.

At the 2009 World Cup in Berlin , he won the bronze medal in a time of 13.15 s.

David Payne is 1.85 m tall, weighs 81 kg and lives in Hampton, Virginia .
